When you’re open about your own mental illness, you encounter a wide variety of reactions. When you are a Christian that is open about your mental illness, the reactions are often very harsh. I am not the type to shrink back from a difference of opinion, but when someone thinks their opinion usurps scientific fact, I often go silent. It’s amazing what we can make ourselves believe when we’re scared of the painful alternatives.
